RAIN FORCES PREMATURE END TO THE S & S CYCLE MID-ATLANTIC NATIONALS AT MARYLAND INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY, JULY 17TH AND 18TH

Inclement weather conditions took over at Maryland International Raceway just shy of the completion of Saturday's second round of qualifying at the S & S Cycle Mid-Atlantic Nationals Presented by All American Harley-Davidson and Harley-Davidson of Frederick in Budd's Creek, MD.

Over 200 competitors were participating while a record Saturday crowd watched before the skies darkened and rain arrived, forcing the cancellation of remaining qualifying rounds and eventually Sunday's eliminations.

Although the rain took a break in the mid-morning hours on Sunday, Maryland International Raceway's track promoter, Royce Miller, estimated a minimum 3-hour track-drying process with the radar showing more rain moving in which indeed was the case following the announcement to cancel eliminations.

AHDRA policy leaves the event complete "as is" with qualified racers in each field receiving first-round payout; racers yet to qualify will be refunded race tech fees.

Qualified competitors will receive first-round points from the Maryland race along with earned qualifying points.
